Earlier this week on 10 March saw the release of the volume 1 of the Kiss and Fly manga adaptation. For those out of the loop, Kiss and Fly (SAO LN volume 22) is a collection of side stories that were originally released as Blu-Ray/DVD limited edition exclusives. However, since SAO had its 10 year anniversary last year, these exclusives were re-released as part of the main SAO LN series... and then the side story collection got itself a manga adaptation to boot... The first of the stories included in this side story collection manga adaptation is The Day Before, a side story taking place during the Aincrad arc the day after Kirito proposed to Asuna on the 61st Floor. The story chronicles an adventure the two had before they were able to purchase the log house of their dreams and register their marriage in the system. The art for the manga is just ♡, so I hope you all enjoy reading the story.
Also, I would like to dedicate this release to one of the SAO Wikia's editors Valgaaf, who's a big fan of the KiriAsu ship. I had originally planned to release this translation on his birthday as a birthday gift... but things don't always work out.
Finally, a standard thank you to all of those who contributed to the SAO Scans project for helping us get the raws.
P.S., Argo has a speech quirk - the last syllable in her sentences is always written in katakana, rather than hiragana. To account for this, we used special formatting to emphasise the final letter in her sentences.
Any feedback is appreciated.

When will you continue next chapters?
ReplyDeleteProbably after we finish with the Ordinal Scale manga. As the sole translator, I'm pretty overbooked with keeping up with the OS manga and Lycoris manga release speed while also trying to find time for side story translations.
DeleteMeanwhile, we lack available cleaners/redrawers to work on this project right now, since everyone on our team already has at least one project they're working on... while cleaning/redrawing is the release rate-limiting step to manga translations.
Since the OS project is nearing completion, we'll probably hurry up with finishing it, which will open up manpower to work on this project.
Will i miss any important details if i prefer reading the manga than the LN? And do you plan to continue translating the other story of kiss and fly manga soon? Thank you as always for your work.
ReplyDeleteThe original side story had more details and internal monologues, but the manga did cover all the main points.
DeleteI do plan to continue translating the other stories, but since each story is very long (over 50 text-heavy pages each), I prioritise finishing other stuff first.
Is this a original side story? I mean is this related to the main story as what had been showed on the anime but got skipped? Anyway thanks for this great work
ReplyDeleteThese are side stories originally released with the anime BD/DVDs (and now released as part of the main series with volume 22). They weren't animated though. Not yet, at the very least.
Deletei like this :)
ReplyDeleteNice
ReplyDeletethank you so much!
ReplyDeleteIm looking forward to much clear vision on kirito and asuna's loved story..SAO ANIME SERIES DID FASTEN IT UP.SO HAPPY TO SEE MUCH MORE ON HOW DID KIRITO FALL FOR ASUNA AND EVERYTHING SO THANKS FOR SHARING THIS ONE....KIRITO ASUNA FOREVER(=
ReplyDeletethey actually foguth a fairy tale Bullshit kind of quest just to buy their dream house?? meanwhile back in the ALO version of aincrad, the 3 of them just....bought it on the spot (at least in my remembrance of the Anime version-only).
ReplyDeleteThe Cardinal System generates new quests automatically over time. This feature was disabled in ALO, so the quest wasn't ported, I guess.
DeleteProbably no one will answer my comment but I wanted to ask if there'll ever be a sister's prayers translation...I would be beyond happy to learn more about Yuuki's past...and I'm not really into light novels so this manga is a dream for me!
ReplyDeleteIt's on our to-do list, yes. But it's currently on the backburner, since I'm focusing on The Next Day and something else right now, while my typesetter for the project was busy with real life stuff.
