[Dengeki Island AGGO] Minami no Island Online (MIO)

So, I'm finally free from uni and started catching up on my backlogs. But seeing as I was away from the translation scene for more than a month, I not only NOT have any translations anywhere near ready for release... practically all of our manga teams have caught up to my translation progress, so I now have to prioritise manga translations for awhile. And since manga translations need some time for cleaning and typesetting, that leaves me with little to nothing ready for release for awhile. So, I decided to finally take out some of the shorts that I had lying around deep in my drawers for the past few years to have some filler releases in the mean time.

Minami no Island Online (Southern Island Online) is an AGGO short written by its author, Sigsawa Keiichi, for a Dengeki 25 year anniversary bootleg called "Dengeki Island!" (電撃あいらんど！) that was released in 2018. The bootleg's theme was "vacation in a southern island", so the story features LLENN and Fuka interactions in a southern island. Complete with swimsuits... which didn't get an illustration for some reason... I call foul... Anyway, there's not much going on here, but Fuka makes any story great by default, so... enjoy the read.

Our next release is probably going to be an Ordinal Scale manga chapter, seeing as Nguyen finally escaped his own exam hell.

Translation (choice/nuance) comments:

• Fukaziroh speaks in a manly tone (and sometimes in an old-timey/samurai-ish tone). To better account for it, I made Fuka's speech more colloquial (and in cases of old-timeyness, replaced her "you"s with "thous").

Markup explanation:

• Itallics mark text that was written in katakana English (I only highlighted the cases where the author uses both English and actual Japanese equivalents for the same thing, or when I needed to emphasise that an English word is used there).
• Comic sans indicates emphasis added by myself when I needed to stress something to get the meaning across properly.
• In some instances, the author decided to use both English and Japanese equivalents for the exact same word one after the other; in such cases, I marked the English variant in itallics, while the Japanese variant will be emphasised with furigana like this: #Translation into English#(Japanese word) (e.g. #long hair#(chouhatsu) - "long hair" here is a translation of the Japanese word, while "chouhatsu" is a romanisation of the Japanese word in the original text to emphasise that this specific word is in Japanese).

#Southern#(Minami no) Island Online (MIO)

Two FullDive VR game players were simultaneously teleported to a certain island to the south.

It was the full-body-pink-uniform-wearing LLENN, and the camouflage-wearing Fukaziroh. They were carrying nothing on hand.

"Heeya! LLENN, long time no see! I see you're as tiny as always!"

"Long time no see! Fuka! Though, I did meet with you as Miyu yesterday."

"Oioi now, bringin' up RL names in an online game is against basic manners! Kohiruimaki Karen."

"Stop with the full names. By the way, I came here because I received an invitation; what kind of gathering is this though? Actually, where are we anyway? We're not in GGO?"

"One question at a time pls. Oh well, I'll answer them for ya in order."

"Please do."

"For starters, as for your first question, 〝Why am I so gorgeous〟——"

"Get a life."

"Did I get that one wrong? Oh, ya see, it's just a little party, see. For the chosen ones, yeah."

"I see, that answers nothing at all."

"Truth be told, I know not the answer either. Den——whats-it somehow or other did this and that."

"I see, that answers nothing whatsoever. Do you really not know the answer, Fuka."

"Yeppers!"

"Why are you so proud of yourself?"

"But ya know, I ain't the type to hesitate when I get invited for free and get to go in my avatar. There ain't any danger or anything to it, after all. If sumthin' happens, we can just log out to escape to RL."

"Well, you do have a point……"

"More importantly, take a gander will ya, LLENN! At this gorgeous scenery! The wide sea! The wide sky! The wide clouds!"

"You need a bigger vocabulary. Though, it is a nice place. The sandy beach sure looks nice too."

"The wide sandy beach!"

"Enough of that already. You definitely wouldn't find this kind of scenery in GGO……"

"Jealous much?"

"Just a bit. At such a wonderful, southern-islands-like place——"

"Mhmmhm"

"I would like to fire some rounds with P-chan."

"Hold it, is what I'd like ta' say, but fine, I'll grant thee thy wish."

"Huh?"

"Tap on that 〝Switch Entire Equipment Set〟 thingie I sent ya, will ya? I've made a copy of your P-chan's data from GGO. I couldn't bring ya the real deal, but a copy is basically the same thing, right?"

"Wha? You can do that?"

"Just do it, will ya."

"Okay. *Press*."

"Ooh!"

"Ooh! P-chan! Glad to meet you in this world too! ——Hey wait, the heck is this! Where did this swimsuit come from! On me! #Why#(Nande)! #Why#(Howai)!"

"Nande and howai are da same word, LLENN."

"That's not the point!"

"Maaan, you often see scenes where someone puts on some sexy outfit, before going 〝the heck is this!〟, in manga and anime, but wonder why they never notice that before putting on the clothes! Though, in a VR world where an outfit change is done in just an instant, I guess it works…… Ah, my'a long-time dream has finally come true!"

"What dream! Wait, Fuka, when did you change into a swimsuit……"

"Well, ya know, a swimsuit is like a uniform in a southern island, don'cha think so? 'Course, I brought over muh grenade launcher Sako good and proper too. Now let's go swimmin', poundin' away with our guns while we're at it!"

"Alrighty!"

Afterwards, the two rampaged through the field to their heart's content and were super scolded by the mysterious person who invited them there as a result, but that's a story for another time
