[Project Announcement] SAO Short Story Collection Manga

As most of you probably already know, SAO is celebrating its 10th year anniversary (counting from the release of volume 1 of the light novel). As part of the celebration, some of the older SAO BD side stories (The Day Before, The Day After, Rainbow Bridge and Sisters' Prayer) got republished as part of the main series (volume 22) to make them more accessible to the public. Months after the BD story collection was announced, the same side stories were also granted a manga adaptation by Bekkou Rico, serialised on the irregularly-released Sword Art Online Magazine. The first of these stories, The Day Before, was released on September 27, 2019... and I've got to say, the art is simply superb. So, since Tap — the translator who originally translated most of these stories — is gone, the art for the manga is spectacular, and Mtt is dying to work on these manga, we announce that we intend to translate the mangas.

Currently, only The Day Before has been released. This is a story that's set in Aincrad the day after Kirito proposed to Asuna, and chronicles their adventure on the 22nd Floor... as well as their marriage scene. The translation for it is already done, so only cleaning and typesetting remain. Can't give any specific dates for the release, as it depends on how fast typesetting is done, but since Mtt is very hyped for it, I hope it'll be out soon enough.

For those who want a preview of what the manga looks like and why you should be hyped for it, see the following thread:

    1. 2. He did two manga volumes of Between the Sky and Sea (Sora to Umi no Aida), according to his Twitter page. That seems to be it. Can't find any other official stuff he's worked on. Which only makes it more astounding how good he is despite not having much under his belt. The art is simply gorgeous.
      3. Started working. Gone missing ever since.
